Lecture-performance, 2015
Duration: 20 min
Creation, performance, artworks: VASKOS
In Velutinous Veloudios VASKOS use a series of staged photographs which freely converse with the life and deeds of Thanos Murray-Veloudios, a controversial and versatile personality: first Greek aviator, enthusiast of Greek culture, dadaist, folklore expert, openly gay. During the lecture-performance, VASKOS pin their photos on the wall while at the same time they engage in a game of more or less coherent references: reading surrealist poems by Yannis Tsarouchis, Nicolas Calas, or Andreas Embirikos, demonstrating Cocteau’s homoerotic sketches, queer photos from Paola’s “Kraximo”, Luigi Ontani’s artworks, film stills from movies by Pasolini or Stavros Tornes, etc. Thus VASKOS create gradually a poetic constellation – a tribute to poetic, abberant lives.
Presented at “Thanos – Murray Veloudios” a group exhibition curated by Dimosthenis Agrafiotis, Beton7, Athens, Greece
