We Will Not Be Silent consists of six snapshots of 15 seconds each that record in a poetic and fragmentary way the preparations for the opera-performance Il Diluvio Universale that was presented at the Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2020 (directed, sets and costumes by VASKOS), a collaboration between Nova Melancholia performance group, Rafi Music Theater Company and musician Michalis Siganidis. In We Will Not Be Silent the camera switches between sharp, steady images and blurry, shaky shots, thus setting the boundaries of proximity and distance from the process. The different sounds (lyric song, musical improvisations, sounds of nature, pop song) reflect the polyphony that characterizes the show and create a hybrid, multicultural landscape from which spring out claims and demands that concern us in the here and now.
