Homemade Lemonade is VASKOS participation at “Head2Head Athens”, a visual art festival curated by the artist-run spaces Kling & Bang and A – DASH, with the support of Embassy of Iceland to Greece and Greek Ministry of Culture, 6 – 21 November, EIGHT critical institute for arts and politics, Athens, Greece

Homemade Lemonade brings together three different DIY and domestic practices of VASKOS: performance on camera, photography and painting in common. The project deals with the ephemeral by using everyday material, converses with mythological or other extended cultural references, claims simultaneously a heritage of Greekness and international avant-garde, plays with words and objects, is openly homo-erotic, and loves weird identities. VASKOS are interested in the idea of the ‘home-workshop’, the ‘home-studio’, that is constantly being transformed, shifting from the familiar to the uncanny and back again; a place amenable to the imaginary and to playfulness. VASKOS create hybrid environments somewhere between the real and the imaginary ; a game of identities and roles which plays with mirror images of the double and is infused with the joy of sharing.
