The School of Clouds and Stones

A contemporary art exhibition and public program curated by Gigi Argyropoulou, Vassilis Noulas and Kostas Tzimoulis organized by The Eight, a critical institute for arts and politics, with the support of Greek Ministry of Culture

The School of Clouds and Stones seeks to explore the stories of stones and the formations of clouds as stakes in a different kind of collective pedagogy. The immaterial–material dipole emerges when we think of clouds and stones: the immaterial that drifts and evaporates, and the heavy materiality of matter that can be extracted and exploited. Bringing together diverse artistic explorations and forms “the school of clouds and stones” proposes an alternative ecology of response. “The School of Clouds and Stones” explores possibilities of documenting, remembering, reimagining, altering and experimenting with conventions, histories, events and materialities. It comes together as a call for transformative (immaterial-material) practices across landscapes, worldbuilding processes and time.
